Vinita Public Schools is a school district that has changed to a professional learning community that is collaborative in nature and focused on learning for all students.

Leadership is the focus at board level and throughout the district. Actions underline building leaders of tomorrow. One example is the Community Book Study. Community members, school professionals, and high school juniors come together in small groups for an eight week study of a book focused on leadership. If you eavesdropped on these conversations, you would be amazed at the quality of thought from all participants.

The Vinita Public Schools Board of Education urges other school districts to accept the challenge of creating a collaborative organization directed toward results. This program can be duplicated by any district willing to face issues by expecting, and empowering, its professionals and then supporting, monitoring, and celebrating the results in learning.
