St. Bartholomew's Episcopal church

82 Prospect Street
914-949-5577

We’re a gathering of friends and acquaintances taking the path trod by the first followers who believed they saw the raised Jesus Christ, a prophet, a teacher, and healer. We are Episcopalians, a Christian tradition with a wide theological tent, and experience the transcendent through reflection, storytelling, music, fellowship and service.

We’re a welcoming congregation praising the good, fostering compassion and building hearts. We’re an urban parish in a green neighborhood.  We walk to church, drive from neighboring towns, and even other states. We have members in the small apartments near the school and large mansions up the avenue.

We are financiers, teachers, architects, musicians and the unemployed. We are gay and straight. We are extended families and families of one. We are progressives and traditionalists, Liberal Republicans and Conservative Democrats, and one anarcho-monarchist.  Some are several generations of Episcopalian, and others have arrived from different faiths.   We are skeptics and believers. We are marvelous in God’s eyes, and yet we stumble. We pray together, laugh together, struggle together, and celebrate together. And sometimes we are individuals who need solitude.

We hope there is a place for you in this house of worship; visit and see if we fit!  You need not become an active member, but participate as little or as much as you’d like.   All denominations who believe in the power of love in the community during the mass are invited to take communion.

Church life isn’t limited to members, though its governance is.  Should you desire to become a member, we can speak with you about being Baptized, or about officially recording your Baptism in our books. You then may want to consider the sacrament of Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation in the Church.
