About Us

Help us change a life today! More of our neighbors are hurting: layoffs, illness, disability or suffering from the effects of poverty.  Volunteers in 53 St. Vincent de Paul conferences in Seattle and King County make home visits to help neighbors in need, preventing eviction, hunger, utility shut-off and more. Afterwards, we work to connect people with long-term programs. We also operate also food banks and meal programs, a case management outreach, and distribute clothing and blankets to thousands of children, families, seniors and homeless people. Our familiar thrift stores recycle more than 5 million pounds of materials yearly and provide affordable household goods for the community. St Vincent de Paul has helped neighbors in need regardless of creed since 1920. Caring people help us turn crisis into hope. Join us as we celebrate our 90th anniversary year in Seattle and King County.

We are the largest Catholic lay organization serving the poor and we partner with caring people, churches, businesses and organizations in our community. Volunteers gave more than 87,000 hours of service this past year. We are part of the international Society of St. Vincent de Paul which was a nominee for the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize and is present in 142 nations.

The 211-Community Information Line refers more people to St. Vincent de Paul than to any other agency in Seattle/King County. We answered 53,649 calls for assistance in 2009 up 60% over 2008.

You are the hope in difficult times for a neighbor in need: your gifts of money, food, clothing and household items, volunteer time, shopping at our thrift stores, or prayer--can make a difference today. Be part of Compassion in Action!
