Second Wind CSA is currently in its second season. We use land on the Four Winds Farm, which has been around for 20 years and was one of the first organic farms in the area. We practice the no-till method of farming. This method works by spreading generous amount of compost on the planting beds every year. We direct seed and transplant our crops into the compost. Nutrients find their way into the soil and, because we never till the soil, microorganisms are not disturbed. This also allows us to keep our tractor use, and C02 emissions to a minimum We are a 65 member CSA project. A share is designed to feed two adults for a week. We also offer apple shares for $15, this gets you a good amount of apples.
