Pine Hill Farm

About Us:

We are a small family farm that has been around since the 1700's.  Our goal is to grow delicious, healthy food - usually picked the very same day it is sold to you!  We are proud of what we grow and hope you like it to.

Pine Hill Farm is the homestead of J. Hector St. John de Creveceour who settled Pine Hill in 1769 and wrote Letters from an American Farmer (1781).

He was the first writer to describe to Europeans--employing many American English terms--the life on the American frontier and to explore the concept of the American Dream, portraying American society as characterized by the principles of equal opportunity and self-determination. His work provided useful information and understanding of the "New World" that helped to create an American identity in the minds of Europeans by describing an entire country rather than another regional colony. The writing celebrated American ingenuity and its uncomplicated lifestyle and spelled out the acceptance of religious diversity in a melting pot being created from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Popy is the farm owner and chief operator.  He purchases, fixes or builds from scratch all the tractors, plows, irrigation equipment and anything else mechanical that the farm needs.

He is the Sweet Corn King!  He takes great pride in the selection and care of the corn he plants.  He buys only the best seed, carefully plants and cares for it and picks it at peak flavor and tenderness.
