New Brookland Lions Club Of Lexington

The New Brookland Lions Club was sponsored by the Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club, who envisioned community interest in a co-ed, lunchtime club to serve the West Metro area encompassing Cayce, West Columbia and Springdale. Lions Woody Lankford and Past District Governor (PDG) Ray Matthews of the Cayce-West Columbia Lions led the effort to organize the new club with Lion Woody serving as the Guilding Lion.

The New Brookland Lions Club began meeting in the fall of 1994. We have been meeting at present location, Carolina Wings and Ribs on Augusta Road, since January 2003.

During the club's ten year history our members have increased their presence in the community and in Lion leadership. We sponsor "The Fastest 5k" race annually in Springdale, we are the primary supporter of eye assistance in the community, we have, and continue to, refinish historical markers in West Columbia and are embarked on service projects that will help us exemplify our motto, "WE SERVE."

Our club attracts those who want to serve the cause of Lionism outside our community. Are members serve as financial, legal and medical advisors to South Carolina Lions. We have two Lions who have attained the honor of being District Governor: PDG Paul Hinson (2002-2003) and current District Governor Gregg Turner. We highly prize leadership training and many of members have taken part in the excellent training offered by local, state, national and international Lions.

By setting high goals and always remembering our motto, We Serve, the New Brookland Lions hope to reach every person in our community through service, membership or awareness.
