Our History:

Mid-America Nutrition Program, Inc. (MANP) was chartered on May 14, 1981, as a not for profit corporation in east central Kansas.  The mission of MANP has always been to assist older persons to remain independent in their own homes.  We do this by providing balanced meals and nutrition information.

MANP is a cooperative arrangement between the 6 counties in which we provide service.  Those counties (Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, Linn, Miami and Osage) provide funding to subsidize the cost of the meals provided to their residents.  In addition to the county money provided, MANP depends on federal and state money.  The federal money is provided through the Older American's Act and as such requires that MANP follow the guidelines set forth in the Act.  The Act compels MANP to provide meals to anyone age  60 or older regardless of their willingness or ability to contribute toward the cost of the meal.  In addition to being age 60 or older, seniors must be either homebound or live in an isolated area in order to receive meals on wheels.  MANP receives a grant administered by the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging for the state and federal funds.

Mid-America Nutrition Program is governed by a board of directors comprised of residents of each of the counties we serve.  The board is responsible to see that MANP is a good steward of the resources provided to us.  With their guidance, MANP will be a resource for generations come.
