Maribel Sportsman's Club

8482 Highway 147

Maribel Sportsman's Club was organized in 1951 where several local conservation minded sportsmen constructed the original club house with trees, cut from the property. Added a rifle range and trap fields. With development of the I-43 corridor the club underwent a new design with reconstruction of the trap fields, and building of storage building and indoor archery range.

Maribel Sportsman's Club is a not for profit organization with about two hundred members, and regularly meets every second Monday of the month.

MSC is active in the outdoor community by providing hunter safety instruction classes, currently four classes a year, bow hunter safety instruction, hunter mentor opportunities, youth hunting opportunities, first-shots programs for women and youth, introductory shotgun and wing shooting, along with the many regular activities such as league trap, 3D archery, silhouette rifle, deer gun sight-in, and the Cottontail Classic fund raiser.

In 2011 the membership decided that the facilities were in need of updating. Trap was running out of room to congregate and socialize. Archery needed a longer range to accommodate the new compound bows potential. Rifle had to accommodate more than one shooter at a time. So began the long term facilities development project. Reconstruction of the rifle range being the first phase. This being the least costly to undertake, with donations of materials and labor.

A new shooting line has been created with the ability to have multiple individuals shooting at different distances at once. New bermed backstops have been created at distances from 12 yards to 200 yards down range. Yet to be installed is a weather canopy over the shooting line and finish the ground work around the berms (as of 2013).

Once the rifle range is completed, the next phase of facilities improvements will be an addition to the archery building. This will allow for extension of the indoor archery range, and provide a new congregation hall for trap teams. This expansion would also increase the available space for other functions which the club is regularly sponsors, such as Wisconsin Trappers Assoc convention, annual sportsman's rummage sale, and Cottontail Classic event.
