Mission Statement

In response to God's call, we, at Main Street United Methodist Church, will reach out to our community and each other, with faith, to share the love of God and the vision of Christ for our world.

About Us

Main Street United Methodist Church is a congregation of the Virginia Annual Conference. Its history goes back to 1784 when Bishop Francis Asbury organized a circuit of churches covering all of Bedford County.

The membership is very active in the church, the community, and the world, and provides spiritual guidance to many of the governmental and community leaders of Bedford City and County. We invite you to participate in our educational, fellowship, spiritual development, and mission and social outreach programs. We invite your membership in our church family through transfer from another United Methodist Church, another denomination, or through Affirmation of Faith.

Our church history, unequalled in Virginia Methodism, continues to inspire us and encourage us to meet the future and its challenges. Our programs are designed so individuals of any age level can find a place in which to worship and to serve others and God. While we view our history with pride, we seek to continue to be builders of a dynamic and relevant Christian faith and fellowship that reaches out into the community and into the world bringing all people to Jesus Christ.
