Lexington County School District Three

338 West Columbia Avenue
803-532-4423

Lexington County School District Three serves approximately 2,200 students in grade K4 through grade 12. The district has four schools: one primary (K4 through grade 2), one elementary (grades 3-5), one middle (grades 6-8), and one comprehensive high school (grades 9-12). The district also has an alternative school for students in grades 6 through 8 that is housed at the Lifelong Learning Center along with adult education programs.

In 1996 and 1999, the district opened Batesburg-Leesville Elementary and Middle Schools respectively. The district also completed a new 1,000 seat state-of-the-art Fine Arts Center in February 2000. The Fine Arts Center is used by all schools in the district and is also available for rent to civic groups and businesses. The Fine Arts Center is the only one of its kind in Lexington County.

With the announcement of several new large businesses locating in Batesburg-Leesville, Lexington County School District Three has begun to experience some growth. All of the district’s schools are currently able to accommodate the increased growth, but the administration and school board are monitoring the situation closely and are looking at potential plans for additions at several of the schools.

The district offers a wide variety of courses on all grade levels. Beginning in 2006-07 school year, the high school will offer freshman the opportunity to participate in Career Clusters for the first time. The individual needs of each student are met in a variety of ways. Extra curricular activities are available at all levels, and PTO and Booster Club groups are active in the schools. Each of the schools has business partners and volunteers that provide services and assistance to both faculty and students.
