LaGrange Lions Club

The LaGrange Lions Club was formed in 1929, a time when the Model A Ford was passing everything else on the road and the courthouse was in the middle of the square.

Dr. R.S. O’Neal was our first president, and Hatton Lovejoy represented the Chamber of Commerce at our first “Charter Night” program. Also present was LaGrange mayor H.C. Fincher. The Lions’ first project raised money to buy sweaters for the LaGrange High School football lettermen.

Today we serve the local community with a primary emphasis on sight conservation and prevention of blindness. With about 150 men and women Lions members, we have weekly Tuesday luncheon meetings. Our support reaches many facets of our community with considerable success due to the dedication and hard work of our members.
