Jumpstart is a national nonprofit whose goal is to ensure that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. We work to build the early education skills of over 13,000 preschoolers each year in nearly 70 communities in 20 states. The Readers Program, a program within the larger Jumpstart network, engages adults of all ages in our mission of  early literacy education and school preparedness. 

Readers are trained and provided with all materials and supplies. Readers read to 3 and 4-year-olds in a preschool classroom once a week for one hour (for a minimum of 6 weeks) using our successful reading techniques. After reading, our volunteers lead the children in a group art, science or literacy activity.
