Mission Statement:

At Brown Elementary School, our mission is to work together as a family of learners to help each child reach his or her greatest potential.

History of Brown Elementary:

Brown Elementary School opened November 10, 1975 on land Mr. James H. Brown donated to the Clayton County School System. The original building contained thirty-one classrooms and served 768 students, kindergarten through sixth grade. An addition was completed in 1981 that consisted of four self-contained classrooms designed for kindergarten and/or special education. Over the years, our student enrollment has fluctuated and modular units have been added and removed to accommodate these changes. A new building wing was completed in September 1996 that provided 11 more classrooms, an art room and a music room. A gymnasium was also added.

With the inception of the middle school concept in Clayton County, we no longer serve sixth grade students. At present our enrollment is 860. We have 30 classes in kindergarten, first, second and third grades and 12 classes of fourth and fifth grade students. We also have 4 special education classes that serve students with moderate to severe intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
