Recognizing that learning is a lifelong process, the mission of Harold C. Johnson Middle School is to prepare students to meet academic and social challenges in a safe, nurturing, learning environment.

Harold C. Johnson Middle School is located at 400 East Jefferson Street in York, South Carolina. HCJMS is easily accessible from Highway 5 and is approximately one mile from the historic district.
Harold C. Johnson Middle School houses approximately 750 students in grades six and seven, offering educational opportunities in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, fine arts, foreign language, physical education and computer assisted instruction.
Harold C. Johnson Middle School has been awarded the Palmetto Silver Award for Academic Excellence for the past five years by the South Carolina Department of Education. HCJMS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
