Fountaindale Elementary School

901 Northern Avenue
301-766-8156

Helping Each Student become all he or she is capable of being.

Fountaindale Elementary was built in 1949, replacing a one room school which stood on the circle in front of the main entrance of the current Fountaindale Elementary building. The first principal was Miss Margaret White. By 1954 Fountaindale was so crowded that a second unit of classrooms was added to the original 7. Later, a gym, three more classrooms and a connecting hallway were added to complete the circle that the school now makes. A library was added in 1968. Fountaindale now educates a population of 400+ students, Pre-K through grade 5. We are the most ethnically diverse elementary school in Washington County. In 2003 Fountaindale became Fountaindale School for Arts and Academics Excellence. Students may begin band and orchestra in 4th grade. The arts are infused throughout the curriculum. Fountaindale also offers accelerated magnet classrooms for grades 2-5.
