First Church of Christ, Scientist, Rome
Christian Science has been a part of the Rome religious community for over 100 years. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and adjacent Reading Room are located at 500 East First Street in historic Rome. Our members warmly invite you to learn about Christian Science and its element of spiritual healing by attending our services, enrolling your children in our Sunday School, and making use of our Reading Room.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy
Mary Baker Eddy made her discovery of the science of Christ Jesus' teachings with its lost element of healing in 1866, and founded a church to commemorate and reinstate these principles in 1879.
Christian Scientists believe in one, infinite God who is All and all good, and man made in His image and likeness. Christian Scientists believe in the Bible and Christ Jesus as the promised Messiah. Above all, we believe in the saving, healing power of God's love.
The Christian Science Monitor is the Pulitzer-Prize winning newspaper established by Mary Baker Eddy in 1908.
Sunday Services
Our Sunday service begins at 10:30 AM each week.
This one-hour service consists of readings from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, prayer and hymns. Children up to the age of 20 are invited to attend our Sunday School which meets at the same hour. Child care is provided at all our services.
Testimony Meetings
Our Society holds testimony meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Christian Science churches worldwide hold Wednesday evening testimony meetings to share remarks, experiences and healings resulting from the study and application of Christian Science.
Reading Room
Our Reading Room, adjacent to the church building, is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM and closed every first Wednesday of the month.
Christian Science Reading Rooms offer a quiet place to study the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. We have books, audio materials and periodicals from The Christian Science Publishing Society for sale and for loan.
