The Ty Ty Baptist Church had its beginning in a school house after the Rev. G. Tom West came to Ty Ty in 1890 and aroused interest in organizing a Baptist Church.

In 1894, Mrs. Rohema Mitchell gave an acre of land on which the church was built. The Rev. West and 12 Baptist men organized the Ty Ty Baptist Church. Plans were made to build a frame church building. All building materials and labor were donated. This was truly a labor of love. The Ty Ty Baptist Church was organized with twelve charter members and continued to grow. Soon it went from quarter-time to a half-time church with the organization of a women’s missionary society and a Training Union.
