About Us
It is important to School District 192 that our children get the best start possible in their educational careers. Therefore, our kindergarten program is carefully structured to provide experiences that enable students to develop socially and physically, as well as academically.
Each child in kindergarten is a unique individual with his or her own pattern of growth and development. The district's kindergarten staff members recognize the importance of addressing each child's individuality. The kindergarten day is designed around the young learner, with ample opportunity for active, hands-on discovery activities. In addition, an essential component of the kindergarten program is communication and partnership with our children's families. Parents/guardians are actively involved in their children's education during this formative year through many volunteer opportunities in and outside the classroom, through numerous communications between the school and home, and through frequent home-school projects.
The Farmington Kindergarten Centerprovides an environment which supports our strong educational program. Kindergarten rooms are spacious and comfortable, the media center includes a computer lab, and there are playground and gymnasium facilities.
The District Service Center, in which the Kindergarten Center is located, also houses the district's school-age day care program and a number of other family services. The close proximity of these programs assures smooth transitions as children and families find their needs change.
We feel great pride in our kindergarten program. The teaching staff as well as the teaching assistants and other support staff work together to assure each child starts first grade with the skills and knowledge to be a successful student.
