City Of Midway

50 Martin Luther King Boulevard
850-574-2355

The City of Midway was incorporated in 1987 by a special act of the Florida Legislature. Our City government consists of seven elected city councilmembers, all of whom are elected city-wide, but five must live in the district they represent. Our Mayor is an elected city councilmember, but is appointed by the city council as Mayor for a two-year term. Midway operates under a Council/Manager form of government, with the city council enacting policy and the city manager carrying out that policy and operating the city on a day-to-day basis.

Midway has a long history dating back to the earliest days of Florida. One common myth is that Midway was actually the point where representatives from Pensacola and St. Augustine first met to determine the Capitol of Florida, but no one has actually proven that point.

Midway is located in Gadsden County about ten miles from Tallahassee, the Capitol of Florida. We are conveniently located near the intersection of two major highways-Interstate 10 and US 90. You can have all the comforts of rural Florida, yet be only fifteen miles away from major shopping malls, two universities and a community college.

The City Council has approved subdivision plans for over 1,000 single family homes in Hill Top and Hill Top North, Rustling Pines, Orion's Pointe and Monroe Creek Subdivions. Most homes are at least two bedrooms and are priced near $150,000, substantially less than Leon County homes (a mere 7 miles from Midway). Homes will be built by a variety of builders.

Midway is also an ideal place to locate your business. We have two large commercial areas of over 1000 acres either contained in the
Gadsden Station DRI or located near the Intersection of I-10 and US 90. Property in the city at those sites will enjoy our newest zoning classification- the Interchange Commercial Zoning- which will allow you to get your building constructed and in operation in a very short time.
