Our Goals
Our goals are simple . . . to develop caring, confident and competent children that stay in school, off drugs and out of trouble, by matching them with the caring, consistent, safe role models.

History:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA), founded in 1904, is recognized as the premier youth mentoring organization in the United States. There are over 450 affiliated Big Brother Big Sister agencies in the United States.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma (BBBSOK) and is a private,
not-for-profit organization that has as its mission "re-creating the extended family for children in need" by providing one-to-one mentors for children. BBBSOK is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

On January 2, 2006 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma was formed with the merger of the Big Brother Big Sister agenciesin Cleveland County, Green Country (Bartlesville, Claremore, Tulsa), Oklahoma City, Shawnee (including Ada) and Stillwater. The first statewide President & CEO is John W. Jacobs. A Board of Directors provides governance to the organization. The corporate office is located in Tulsa.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma's Bartlesville Office has served families and children in Washington County since 1984. The program began as a sponsored program of Youth & Family Services, before becoming be a satellite office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green Country (Tulsa) in 1998. A local volunteer board has oversight responsibility for the program.

Our strategic objectives in 2007, include serving 164 children in One-to-One mentoring friendships, and expanding our service area to include Nowata County.
