ARC--Arlington Runners Club was just founded in January, 2006. Its concept is simple yet far-reaching. After recently signing up for my second marathon and sensing a need to raise awareness for a charitable cause, I spearheaded a pledge drive and raised over $1,300. This was by no means unique, but it did give me back a greater sense of purpose and personal reward for my participation.Because of the gracious financial support I received, I was able to help provide children that had a parent in prison with a Christmas present by donating the monies to Angel Tree Christmas at www.PFM.org.This fueled my training afterward by looking for new and creative ways to not only to enjoy this sport of running, but to invite others to share in this same passion. This sparked the running club and our mission—to provide fitness and reward charity at the same time. So if joining or volunteering with ARC is something you’d be interested in, I’d love to hear from you as well.This rainbow is a photo I recently took while ith my family in Hawaii. It is this arc that provided the namesake for this running club. It also serves to remind me of my own personal faith, of the many wonderful ways the Lord provides for us, and it motivates me to give back in every small way I can. God bless!
