Albany Rotary Club

History :

One of the oldest Rotary Clubs in Georgia - Sponsored by the Macon Rotary Club, and chartered on January 11, 1917, with 20 charter members. It was the first civic club formed in Albany...and Albany was the smallest city in the world to have a Rotary Club. At that time it was thought that only the larger cities could support a Rotary Club, but by special dispensation, Rotary International granted a charter.

Our new organization was installed at the Kinchafoonee Country Club. Rotarians from Atlanta, Savannah, Columbus and Macon were present. Tables were arranged for about 75 and a bird supper was served for the members, guests, and ladies. President J. D. Crump of Macon presided.
