SYNOPSIS of the SHOW

From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time.

Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever; the score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim are still widely regarded as among the best ever written; and Jerome Robbins’ choreography endures as one of the most innovative and inventive applications of the medium.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950s New York City as two young, idealistic lovers, Tony and Maria, find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

We are looking for young people ages 12-21.

Auditions are:

Monday, May 1st   
Wednesday, May 3rd. (NOT TUESDAY, May 2nd)
CALL BACKS will take place on Thursday, May 4th
Friday, May 5th Keep this free as a 2nd CALL BACK DATE

WHERE: GYMNASIUM  Howell PAL Enrichment Center 115 Kent Road Howell, NJ   

Auditions are for ages 12-21

SHOW DATES ARE:

Friday, June 30th 7:30 pm
Saturday, July 1st  7:30 pm
Where:  The Strand Theater  400 Clinton Ave Lakewood, NJ

Rehearsals will be in the evenings on Wednesdays-Thursdays from 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM  
and Saturdays 9:30-1:00 pm
Howell PAL Enrichment Center beginning Wednesday, May 17th

Mandatory Tech Rehearsals at the Strand Theater on June 26th-June 29th from 4 pm - 9 pm at the Strand Theater
You must be available for all technical rehearsals.

Participation Fee: $495
Please register for auditions by completing the form below.

MUST SUBMIT  A VOCAL AUDITION VIDEO via YouTube video or Google Mp4 video and email the link to be downloaded into your digital audition folder for our show. Please make the video able to download.
