Enjoy the local premieres of eight recent, critically acclaimed Italian films at the 2024 Italian Film Festival USA of Milwaukee. All films shown at the Union Cinema, Kenwood Boulevard and Maryland Avenue, on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

April 26, 2024:

7:00 p.m: Thank You Guys (Grazie Ragazzi)
Director, Riccardo Milani, Comedy, 2022, 117 min.

Antonio takes a job as a drama teacher in a penitentiary and discovers talent in an unlikely company of prisoners. He convinces the warden to stage a play at an actual theatre. Will a triumphal tour begin?

9:15 p.m: Palazzina Laf
Director, Michele Riondino, Drama, 2023, 99 min.

Caterino works at the steel mill in Taranto. Company management decides to eliminate problem employees and asks him to spy on co-workers who are then assigned to the LAF building. Not understanding the situation, he asks to be placed in the LAF building. But what really goes on there?

April 27, 2024:

9:15 p.m: Bad Conscience (Cattiva Coscienza)

Antonio is overjoyed when his only child, Emilia, announces her engagement. He is proud to use his life savings to give her the reception she has always wanted. But is his bank hiding something?

7:00 p.m: The De Filippo Siblings (I Fratelli De Filippo)
Director, Sergio Rubini, Drama, 2021, 142 min.

Eduardo De Filippo, one of Italy’s greatest playwrights, and his siblings Titina and Peppino grew up in the early 1900s in Naples. Their difficult family life gave them a new perspective to theatre.
