Frederic Chiu, appearing in our series for a third time, performs in major venues across five continents. He collaborates with classical music friends Joshua Bell, Pierre Amoyal, Gary Hoffman, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet, as well as non-Classical friends like jazz pianist Bob James, writer/storyteller David Gonzalez, Shakespearean actor Brian Bedford, and the clown Buffo, trying to bring the vivid live concert experience to as many people as possible.

For us, Frederic Chiu will perform works of teenage Chopin and Mendelssohn.

4:00pm: Zhu Wang, Piano

Zhu Wang’s “sensitive and engaging performances exhibit a remarkable depth of musicianship and poise beyond his age.” (Fou Ts'ong, world-renowned pianist)

Praised for his “technical mastery and deep sense of lyricism,” (The Durango Herald), pianist Zhu Wang was awarded First Prize in the 2020 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He is the winner of many other competitions, including being one of three finalists in the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition, and he has been a featured soloist on WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase and WFMT’s Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts.

Acclaimed young American pianist Drew Petersen is a sought-after soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. He has been praised for his commanding and poetic performances of repertoire ranging from Bach to Zaimont and is the recipient of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, 2017 American Pianists Award, and the Christel DeHaan Fellow of the American Pianists Association.

Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez is quickly establishing a reputation and earning praise as a versatile artist who combines "panache and poetry" (Dallas Morning News) with a "sense of grace and clarity" (The Star Ledger). Versatile, daring, and insightful, she is establishing a reputation both nationally and internationally for the lyricism of her playing, her compelling interpretations, and her elegant stage presence. This is her first appearance in our series.
