Fall Events Include Concerts, Cleanup, And Candy Fun

Annual Scarecrow Festival is organized by the Midlothian Downtown Business Association. It is held at Heritage Park, 234 N. 8th Street and will run from October 18 - November 5, 2022. Scarecrows are decorated by individuals, families, groups, and businesses with prizes issued for various categories. This year’s theme is “Celebrate Fall.”

The Annual Downtown Trick or Treat event will be held on Monday, October. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m.  Made possible by participating businesses, the event is free to all. Businesses will set up their candy stations along North 8th Street and in Heritage Park.  North 8th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event.  In the event of inclement weather, festivities will be cancelled. 

A.H. Meadows Library will hold its annual Trick or Treat event for ages pre-k to 5th grade on Monday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.  The Library is located inside Midlothian High School at 922 S. 9th Street. Wear a costume and get a treat. 

Midlothian Public Works Department holds free Cleanup Day on Saturday, November 5, 8 a.m. to noon.  Residents may drop off at 1050 N. Highway 67, non-hazardous waste items for disposal or recycling, including:  furniture, appliances (Freon removal provided), documents for shredding, off-rim tires (car, light truck, semi-truck trailer; NOT farm, tractor, or heavy equipment tires), electronics such as, hair dryers, curling irons, keyboards, computer monitors, speakers, radio receivers, hand-held gaming devices, and televisions. Projector TVs can be recycled for a $1 per-screen-inch charge (cash and correct change accepted only), or disposed of for free.  Tube-style televisions cannot be thrown away, but can be recycled for the fee of $1 per screen inch. The vendor who recycles televisions requires payment in cash and correct change only. This event is intended for residents within city limits only and is not for businesses.  Proof of residency is required. 

No household hazardous waste such as oils, chemicals, or car batteries is accepted at this event. Get more Cleanup Day information here, or call 972-775-1083. 

Forever Mac concert on November 5 at Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street, at 7 p.m. will feature a Fleetwood Mac tribute band comprised of six Dallas music veterans, exploring some of the most powerful and influential music ever made. Faithful re-creations of those beautiful harmonies and iconic instrumental tones will take you back to the days when Fleetwood Mac’s hits ruled the radio. This concert is sponsored by State Farm, Tim Tobey insurance agency, in celebration of the agency's 25 years of serving Midlothian. Bring blankets and chairs for lawn seating.  Coolers are allowed.

The City of Midlothian Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating Texas Arbor Day with a free tree giveaway on Saturday, November 5, at Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street, from 5 to 7 p.m., or while supplies last.  One hundred fifty trees will be gifted on a first-come, first-served basis, along with instructions for planting and care. This event is made possible through funding from Midlothian Community Development Corporation.

To honor our veterans, Midlothian’s Annual Veterans Tribute Dinner will be held on Friday November 11, 2022, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Midlothian Conference Center. The dinner is free, but registration is required.
