On May 15th, the Democratic Party of New Mexico honors the incredible life of former Jicarilla Apache Nation President and Vietnam Veteran Edward Velarde as he is laid to rest.

The Democratic Party of New Mexico Secretary Isaac Dakota Casados released the following statement:  

"President Velarde was a towering figure, not just within his tribal community, but nationally. His unwavering commitment drove economic progress and bolstered tribal sovereignty and self-determination. President Velarde's legacy continues to inspire many of us towards public service, and we will honor his memory for years to come.”

The Democratic Party of New Mexico extends its heartfelt sympathies and condolences to President Velarde’s family and the entire Jicarilla Apache Nation.
