From: An Old-Fashioned Independence DayClermont's annual Independence Day extravaganza is back and better than ever. Join us, beginning at 1:00 pm, for an afternoon of historic reenactors demonstrating skills such as sewing, weaving, blacksmithing, and Palatine style cooking. Enjoy tales and songs with Thomas ****** Hanford. Storyteller and performer, Joy Kelly Smith will engage the audience with her stories of the enslaved and indigenous peoples. A bagpiper will honor the Livingston's Scottish heritage with traditional music. Selections will be read from Frederick Douglass' "What to a slave is the Fourth of July." Members of the 34th Regiment of Foot will demonstrate British Army camp life. The afternoon will be capped off with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Food trucks will be on site all day. While you await the Saugerties fireworks, enjoy an evening of music with The Wallpapers from 7:30-9:30pm.
